Yarmouth Bell Ringers poised to ring in Spring

ggbhcjbdThe first spring session of Creative Minds features the Yarmouth Bell Ringers, coming up Sunday, March 22 at the AGNS Western Branch at 2 p.m.

Along with providing a bit of history of how the group was formed, the bell ringers will also explain the process of playing the bell, how they are rung, why they wear white gloves while playing the bells, how the bells are tuned and repaired, and play some pieces.

Each bell ringer plays two bells, one in each hand. A member of the group will give the low-down on the skills that are required to play (they say it’s simple!) and folks in the audience will have a chance to ring one of the bells while a piece is being played. It promises to be informative, fun, and entertaining.

As the Yarmouth Bell Ringers are looking for new members, this is also a great way to get a taste for what’s involved, and to sign up if so inclined. Creative Minds is a free program arranged through the Friends of the Gallery with the generous support of Coastal Financial Credit Union here in Yarmouth.
