In two ceremonies the 2024 recipients of the Carl Doty arts scholarships were awarded to this year’s recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joshua Jongyoon Park<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student at Shelburne Regional High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joshua became interested in art at a very early age and by the age of 13 was sharing his work on Instagram (bagjongyoon144). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has used a variety of art media, including graphite, acrylic, oil, and watercolour and enjoys challenging himself to a high degree of detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a member of the Shelburne County Arts Council, has been commissioned on three different works of art, has exhibited at two local art venues in Yarmouth and Shelburne and was honoured to be considered for the Nova Scotia Minister\u2019s Awards for Creative Excellence in the Arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is currently a BDES (Hons) Graphic Design student at OCAD University registered full-time for the fall of 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cArt will be my path in life and I\u2019m looking forward to post secondary education in the Arts.\u201d Joshua<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mia (Gyoung min) Koo<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since childhood, Mia had a passion for art. At first, she focused solely on fine art but<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 for the past three years has ventured into graphic design and has been exploring <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   new visual experiences and honing her skills through typography, posters, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   printmaking and motion graphics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  Currently she is experimenting with various art genres such as sculpture, 3D art,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  acrylic and oil painting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  She is currently registered at The Sheridan College Institute of Technology and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  Advanced Learning and will commence the Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  program in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am excited to continue my journey of art exploration and growth as I pursue my<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  passion for both traditional art and graphic design.\u201d   Mia<\/p>\n\n\n\n
