Poetry beyond the page – Creative Minds

Poetry Beyond the Page: AGNS- Yarmouth Creative Minds Event Welcomes Performance Poet Robert O’Neil Meet Robert O’Neil, a well known spoken-word-performance-poet who has recently left the Prairies to settle in Yarmouth.

O’Neil has been writing and performing poetry for over thirty years, sharing his work with audiences in local, pr\ovincial and national venues. Challenging the stereotype of the reclusive scribbler, for Robert the audience is everything. He works with artists from many disciplines and often incorporates costume, dance, music, media and the visual arts into his performances. He has so far considered the stage, audio and video his format; and his performances have been his publications. His work is often performed in support of local charities and this event will support the Yarmouth food bank.

This dynamic poet will be featured in the upcoming Creative Minds session on Sunday April 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the community room of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch, located at 341 Main Street, Yarmouth, NS. Creative Minds is a free program sponsored by the Friends of the AGNS Western Branch Society. For information call 902-749-2248.

Finding Lucy Jarvis at Creative Minds

Finding Lucy Jarvis:

AGNS Creative Minds Event Seeks to Unearth Lost Works by Prominent Artist

Please join Roslyn Rosenfeld, author of Lucy Jarvis: Even Stones Have Life, who will explore the evolution of artist Lucy Jarvis’s bold personal style on Sunday April 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the community room of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch, located at 341 Main Street, Yarmouth, NS. Creative Minds is a free program sponsored by the Friends of the AGNS Western Branch Society. For information call 902-749-2248.The vibrant art of Lucy Jarvis captures the places and people she was passionate about. Committed to the art “of the people,” Jarvis often gave away or sold her work inexpensively, scattering her sketches and paintings throughout Atlantic Canada, passed down through families who may have no clue what treasures they possess. On  April 24, members of the public are invited to bring suspected Lucy Jarvis works for evaluation by a panel of experts including Roslyn Rosenfeld and members of Jarvis’s family who have devoted their lives to preserving her legacy and cataloguing her body of work.
